The NBA is planning a players-only NBA 2K tournament that is expected to feature some of the league’s sharpest video gamers, including Kevin Durant, and it will be broadcast on ESPN.

The league hopes to launch the event Friday, with the 16-player tournament lasting 10 days. It is expected to include stars such as the Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell, four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins and two-time All-Star Andre Drummond, among other big-name players.

The NFL has officially approved the expansion of its playoffs from 12 to 14 teams as of the 2020 season, which will add two new games during the wild card round. CBS and NBC, who are both existing NFL rights holders, will air the new games. The two new games will be aired on January 10, with CBS broadcasting the late afternoon game at approximately 4:40 pm ET and NBC broadcasting a game at approximately 8:15 pm ET.

This year’s Major League Baseball (MLB) London Series between the Chicago Cubs and the St Louis Cardinals, scheduled for 13th to 14th June, has been cancelled.

The International Basketball Federation’s (Fiba) Basketball Champions League competition is looking to host a one-off ‘Final Eight’ tournament after admitting it won’t be able to finish the 2019/20 season as planned. The new event will be held from 30th September to 4th October. The host and location will be announced in due course.

The NCAA Division I Council voted yesterday to allow spring sport athletes to potentially receive another year of eligibility after their seasons were cut short by the coronavirus. The additional season opportunity will apply to athletes in baseball, softball, golf, tennis, lacrosse, track and field, beach volleyball, and rowing.
