The Los Angeles Angels announced Wednesday they have hired Joe Maddon to be their manager.

The deal is for three years, two people with direct knowledge of the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports. The people requested anonymity because that hadn’t been announced.

The first managing domino to tumble this offseason was one that was largely expected, with Joe Maddon reportedly agreeing to become the Angels’ new manager.

USA Today reported that the sides had agreed to a three-year deal. It brings Maddon back to the organization where he served as a minor-league player and manager and a major-league coach for several seasons before embarking on a successful 14-year managerial career with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Chicago Cubs.
