The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has agreed a 12-year extension of its strategic partnership with the Wanda Group until 2031.

The Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group will have worldwide marketing rights to the next three cycles of the FIBA Basketball World Cup and World Cup qualifiers, the Women’s Basketball World Cup, the FIBA Continental Cups and FIBA Youth World Cup.

FIBA and Wanda have committed to promoting the development of basketball worldwide and bringing more international club competitions to China. The new deal comes on the eve of this year’s Basketball World Cup in China, continuing a partnership first announced in 2016.

The marketing rights include real estate development, shopping malls, hotels, travel agencies, movie theaters, movie and film production and film studies and amusement and theme parks.

Wang Jianlin, Wanda Group chairman, added: “This strategic partnership between the Wanda Group and FIBA will greatly promote the development of basketball globally.
