A controversial foul call on a 3-point attempt by VirginiaKyle Guy in the final seconds of Saturday night’s Final Four game against Auburn allowed the Cavaliers to pull out a dramatic 63-62 win and left at least one member of the Tigers fuming. (Read) By Jeff Borzello

A great Final Four game deserved a better ending. For three, maybe four seconds, Auburn thought it would be playing in the national title game for the first time in school history. The Tigers, who launched an explosive run in the final minutes to take the lead over Virginia in the Final Four, embraced one another and screamed in unison after Kyle Guy‘s go-ahead 3-pointer over Samir Doughty‘s right-in-his-chest pressure clanked off the rim, and the final buzzer sounded. Seth Greenberg says the refs completely missed the double dribble call on Virginia’s Ty Jerome, but the Auburn foul on Kyle Guy was the correct call because the defender didn’t give him space to land.

Auburn alum Charles Barkley has been the Tigers’ biggest supporter during their Final Four run this year, and for a few seconds there, he probably thought he was going to get to cover his alma mater in the national championship game.But a controversial foul call in the final second led to three free throws by Virginia guard Kyle Guy – and an Auburn loss.Barkley weighed in on the situation after the game.
