Sam Darnold the New York Jets third overall pick of the 2018 draft made his NFL career debut with a stellar performance. Darnold entering the game early in the second quarter, he completed 13 of 18 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown in the Jets‘ 17-0 win over the Falcons. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought Nick Rose in for a workout. The Bucs are also auditioning Joey Slye and Drew BrownMichael Vick will call plays for the Brad Childress-coached Atlanta franchise in the AAF. Derrius Guice‘s ACL tear deprives the Washington Redskins of a potential impact player being part of their 2018 offense, and they will likely turn to former starter Rob Kelley in his place. Deon Cain generated buzz in Indianapolis Colts camp this summer, but the rookie tore an ACL in Indianapolis’ preseason opener Thursday night and will miss the rest of this season. The New England Patriots and Tom Brady have agreed to a $5MM incentive package.  If he meets statistical thresholds, his 2018 base salary will move to $20MM.  The Patriots held out Brady of Thursday night’s preseason game versus the Washington Redskins, the 41-year-old, QB is dealing with a sore back. The Seattle Seahawks’ QB depth chart starts and ends with Russell Wilson.   However the backup core of Austin Davis, and seventh-round pick Alex McGough may not be talented enough. That’s why the Seahawks work out quarterback Josh Johnson. Johnson was most recently with the Raiders, though his stint in Oakland lasted only a couple of months. Oakland Raiders Khalil Mack missed Friday night game and will lose a $814,000 fine for each game missed. Aaron Donald, who skipped the Los Angeles Rams Thursday night game, is in line to lose $405,000 per game. Free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant, prodded by Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey to come in for a tryout, said on Twitter on Thursday night that he’s starting his visits next week and that Cleveland will be on his list. Pittsburgh Steelers Le’Veon Bell is rounding into football shape. Bell has set up workouts with Rischad Whitfield, who’s known as ‘Footwork King’ in some NFL circles. Antonio Brown is back with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and coach Mike Tomlin said the All-Pro receiver is expected to rejoin practices after Thursday’s preseason opener at Philadelphia. Jacksonville Jaguars banned cornerback Jalen Ramsey and defensive end Dante Fowler for one week for “violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars football player,”
